The Alumni is a ‘not for profit’ networking association than runs 3 events annually, attracting academics, practitioners and risk managers from across the globe. The Alumni has been running since 2013 and has experienced rapid growth which is a testament to the organisers, guest speakers and delegates that attend the free workshops and events.
The Alumni welcomes personnel from all backgrounds and has a diverse range of individuals ranging from ground (and sea) operators in fields such as Close Protection and Maritime Security to In Country Operations Directors and Project Managers worldwide to Senior Ministry of Defence and Foreign & Commonwealth Office personnel.
The Alumni relies on volunteer support and sponsorship and at present has 4 key personnel and a number of support staff.
Aloma Watson (Chairwoman)
Director of UAS Flight Ops
Aloma who is a co-founder of the SRM Alumni is our Chairwoman & Event Coordinator, she comes from a strong Business Development background and brings a wealth of brand building experience to the table. Aloma works closely with the team to implement a comprehensive plan to enable the SRM Alumni to develop as a leading security and risk networking association.
As Chairwoman Aloma will enable the implementation of the SRM Alumni wider development strategy and will liaise with delegates, guest speakers and sponsors and will also build business relations in order to achieve overall SRM Alumni objectives. As well as having an impressive global network of professional contacts, Aloma brings many attributes that the Alumni will benefit from including strong interpersonal communication skills, strategic thinking, a drive for high performance and attention to detail.
Duncan Godfrey (Vice President)
Director of Frontier Risks
Duncan is a highly experienced, competent and qualified Security Risk Consultant with over 15 years global, operational experience in both the military and commercial sectors. Familiar with operating in high risk environments, Duncan has first-hand, in country experience of the threats faced to an organisation, its operations and its key assets. Previous experience has Duncan well versed in providing intelligence updates, vulnerability, threat and risk assessments, journey management and crisis response to teams deployed in both benign and hostile locations. Before operating in the commercial sector, Duncan served in the Royal Marines and completed a number of operational tours, most notably as one of the first conventional troops on the ground during Operation Telic, Iraq.
Duncan’s final military appointment was as the troop commander for the Royal Marines Sports Presentation Team. His remit was to produce detailed programmes, training serials and co-ordinate the instructors on the delivery of team building, team development and leadership training. The combination of this experience, and Duncan’s extensive training portfolio, allows him to develop and deliver a range of high quality, industry relevant training programs for private, corporate and government clients. One of Duncan’s key roles is managing the design and delivery of the industry leading, Security Risk Management Consultants Course.
Pete Lawrence (Treasurer)
Managing Director of Frontier Risks Group
Pete spent his early career in her Majesty's Royal Marines before co-founding his first company supplying training and consultancy to the shipping and maritime security industries. Pete then assumed the role of Managing Director of Protection Group International ( PGI ) Training Division, a UK based, intelligence-led risk management company.
Pete has large scale project experience delivering end to end solutions to clients in East Africa, The Middle East and Asia. Advising FTSE 250 companies, UK and Foreign Governments Agencies.
Pete brings extensive commercial experience including finance management and funding solutions and has been selected as the ideal candidate for the position of Treasurer of the SRM Alumni.
